Name: Liz Lowe
Years teaching yoga: 21

If you could describe your teaching style in three words, which would you choose?

Informed, fun, simple

What do hope students will take away from your classes?

Pride and gratitude

When you think back on your personal yoga journey, what is one standout way it has changed your life?

Taking an intentional breath in all the colorful moments of wow. You know, like “wow, what a beautiful sunrise” or “wow, I am so pissed off right now” or “wow, time flies.”

What’s a quote, poem, or personal mantra that’s resonating with you right now?

“At least…” I stole that from my kid – his glass is always half full.

When you’re not teaching at SYJ, what can we find you doing?

Sweeping. Just kidding. Not really. But you can find me in the garage painting a piece of furniture or pretending to be a carpenter.

Is there a song you’ve had on repeat lately?

Depends on the mood:

Spicy – NAS
The Island – JJ Grey & Mofro
Best out of Me – Suzanne Santo

What does the SYJ community mean to you?

SYJ means family. The roots run deep. It’s a place to feel truly seen and heard. SYJ is unconditional love.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

Right where I am. Good yoga answer? I wouldn’t say no to an island somewhere surrounded by water, family, and at least 80 degrees of sunshine.

What’s one beautiful thing that happened to you during the COVID-19 pandemic?

My children became better friends.
